AE Content Based Instruction MOOC

The last MOOC course offered by American English brought significant insights in my profession as an educator. I learned new strategies and methodologies especially in training development. This February, another great opportunity awaits for learning and collaboration.

The massive open online course (MOOC) is offered for free and provided by World Learning, as part of the American English (AE) E-Teacher Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and administered by FHI 360.

Here’s the course description from their website:

This course is designed for teachers who are already teaching – or are preparing soon to teach – content-based instruction (CBI). We define CBI as instruction where the content (which could be math, history, science, etc.) is taught in a language that the students are still in the process of learning. In this MOOC, we will focus on the case of EFL. CBI courses present teachers with the challenge of balancing the teaching of both language and content. The ideal way to strike this balance will differ, depending on the teaching context. This MOOC was designed to prepare participants for future decision-making and problem-solving in the area of CBI.

The course will be offered between February 18, 2019 and March 18, 2019. As of this writing there’s no information on where and what platform it will be hosted, but as soon as I have the information, I’ll update this post.

If you’re interest in joining this course send me an email.

Update: The course will take place in Canvas. Enrollment is still on going. If you’re interested, follow this link.
